Why is waterproofing so important before tiling a bathroom?
Waterproofing is the most critical step in any bathroom renovation. It creates a seamless, impermeable barrier beneath your tiles that prevents water from leaking into the subfloor and walls. Without proper waterproofing, you risk structural timber rot, mold growth, and expensive damage to the rest of your home.
While it is technically possible in some rare cases (“tile-over-tile”), we generally do not recommend it for bathrooms. Tiling over old tiles prevents us from inspecting or replacing the underlying waterproofing membrane. To guarantee a 100% leak-free guarantee, a full rip-out and fresh waterproofing layer are highly recommended.
  • For Floors: Porcelain tiles are excellent because they are incredibly dense, durable, and slip-resistant.
  • For Walls: Ceramic, porcelain, or natural stone work beautifully.
    We always recommend choosing a tile with a suitable slip rating (usually R10 or higher) for wet areas to ensure safety.
How long do I have to wait to use my shower after the job is done?
We advise waiting at least 24 to 48 hours after the final silicone and grout application before using the shower. This ensures everything has fully cured and the waterproof seals are completely airtight.
Yes, absolutely. Because we strictly adhere to national building standards and use premium-grade waterproofing systems, all of our waterproofing work comes with a fully backed workmanship and leakage guarantee. (We can insert your specific warranty period here, e.g., 7 or 10 years).
To keep your bathroom looking pristine and prevent mold, we recommend cleaning your tiles regularly with a pH-neutral cleaner and avoiding harsh bleach or acid-based chemicals, which can erode the grout and damage the sealer. It’s also best to use a squeegee on wall tiles after showers and ensure your bathroom has good ventilation to let the area dry out properly.
